Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first health coaching session?

Our first coaching session is designed to be fun, interesting, and insightful.  I will ask you to complete a Personal Health Inventory (PHI).  The PHI will be given to you in advance, to allow ample time for completion.  It provides a picture of where you are now and where you want to be.  This Duke-sanctioned assessment tool will help us plan for your health in a way that fits your unique life and goals.  We will review and discuss it together during our first session.  This tool is the launch point and basis for setting attainable goals and making the change that you desire and deserve.

What happens during a health coaching session?

There is a saying that coaches don’t provide answers, they ask great questions. Good coaching questions help you find your own answers.  One helpful way to achieve your personal health goals is to take the time to regularly evaluate your progress. Prior to each session, I will have you complete a Coaching Session Prep Form. This form is designed to give you a quick way to track your progress toward your goals and identify any changes you need to make to achieve them.  During your coaching session, we will review this form together and explore accomplishments, successes, insights, challenges, and set attainable goals.

Where and how often do we meet?

Currently I offer virtual coaching sessions via my Zoom account.  I may be offering in-person sessions in the future.  Meaningful change requires commitment.  While I feel that weekly or bi-weekly sessions work best to establish and successfully meet goals, I will work with you to establish a schedule that best suits your needs.
